Hey there…
It’s Mozart from HugeHounds with an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT…
We HUGE hounds need to protect our hoomans from the coronavirus pandemic.
My mom is so funny. She is doing so much research about the coronavirus and pets to make sure we are all safe and healthy. I love that about my hooman.
So these are the facts … According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses and not just one virus. Meaning… Some cause illness in people and others cause illness in certain types of animals. It appears, that the spread of Coronaviruses from human to animal, is rare. It was stated that in the United States, there is no evidence to suggest that any animals, including pets, livestock, or wildlife, might be a source of COVID-19 infection at this time. However, because all animals can carry germs that can make people sick, it’s always a good idea to practice healthy habits around pets and other animals.
With this in mind, I have created…
5 TIPS to keep pets & hoomans safe during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Tip #1:
Keep us away from the dog parks. Keep us inside with you!
Although we love to play outside and take a ton of walks, your safety is what we are worried about. The new norm is social distancing during this time. And that is why our tip #1 is to keep us away from the dog parks. Dog parks are not just for us dogs but is a social meeting place for hoomans too. We know you love us and can sense we get super bored but we want to keep you safe and ask that you play with us indoors or take us for walks in our neighborhood. So right now we are stopping all activities to the dog park.
Tip #2
Wash our food and water bowls daily.
We appreciate you are washing your hands like crazy but our bowls, especially if you share with other pets in the house, can get quite dirty with germs and bacteria.
I am sure your hoomans are already doing this but it is really important to make sure no bacteria or viruses find their way into our bellies to compromise our immune system during this time. I think mom cleans our bowls a million times a day because of all the drool I leave in there for our little sister Lola.
Tip #3
Make sure our faces, mouths & eyes are clean from drool and guck.
Again, staying clean will help us from carrying any extra germs we need. If you haven’t see our new DroolRag. You may want to check it out. It is super soft and cleans jowls and eyes with ease.
Tip #4
Love on us!
Social distancing doesn’t mean from us. As I mentioned earlier, it is so rare that we would spread the coronavirus to hoomans. So don’t stop loving us. We want to make sure our hoomans are safe so snuggles are always welcome. Snuggles are safe and super loving, so continue snuggling with us. If you do find you have symptoms of the flu, we recommend to limit kisses.
Tip #5
Make sure you have lots of food and treats for us on hand.
Mom loves to fry up liver, beef and carrots for us. She said she was not able to find any frozen peas and carrots as grocery stores and online retailers are selling out of essentials. She said even toilet paper is on backorder. So have her check your food supply and have a couple of weeks worth ready and available just in case access to the stores are slim. Online stores like Chewy’s and Purina are still shipping.
We as pets love our hoomans as much as they love us! Let’s together support and protect each other during this uncertain time. All of us at HugeHounds are sending love and prayers to all those who are affected by the coronavirus and wish you a speedy recovery.
To Fellow Pups, and their hooman parents and siblings, stay safe and share your love!
