Hi, hoomans! Did you know a new year is just around the corner? You probably do. You can read calendars and stuff. Mozart and I know because we hear our family talk about it all the time. One big word they throw around is “rezalooshin,” which, as far as we can tell, means all the cool stuff they want to get done before the next new year.
Ahem, I do apologize. Mom says it’s spelled “resolution.” I didn’t know a “t” could make that shushing sound—and Mozart and I are familiar with the shushing sound.
Anyway, Mozart and I were talking about these resolutions, and we realized dogs probably have a lot of things they want to accomplish, too. And so, we started a list:
1. Eat More
Sure, Mom and Dad might talk about getting fit or eating better, but Mozart and I agree that we want to eat more food. Kibble, treats, leftovers, whatever we can steal off of someone’s plate before they see us…
We understand it’s probably not the best resolution for a hooman—or for dogs. That’s why it’s up to you to make sure we’re getting the best possible nutrition—and in the right quantities. Left to our own devices, we’ll fulfill our resolution every chance we get.
2. Get to the Vet
Okay, let’s be honest here. We don’t actually want to go to the vet. But we do want to live with you forever, and that means we have to be healthy. For that reason, we’ll endure just about anything, including getting stuck with the sharp things and letting the vet look at our teeth. Besides, when it’s all over, we tend to get even more hugs and cuddles than usual, especially if we’re good. It’s a nice treat after any harrowing experience.
3. Play Outside More
Part of keeping healthy and happy is staying active. Lots of outdoor play and long walks makes us very happy. We love to run around the yard, play fetch, and go for a roll in the grass. And getting outside more is an easy resolution to meet, even in the rain or snow, thanks to our RainRover Raincoat we created.
4. Make New Friends
Now, we’re not saying you should run right out and find us a new furry brother or sister. We mean, we wouldn’t mind at all, but there’s only so much room in the house for two huge hounds and one medium-ish border collie hound; that’s our sister, Lola. One more might be a stretch, right? But a trip to the dog park on occasion would give us the chance to socialize with other dogs and make some new friends. Doggie play dates with familiar pups are also a great idea to keep things interesting.
And hey, if you do decide to get your pup a new forever friend, consider adopting from a local shelter or rescue. You’ll save a life.
So, there you have it: our biggest four rezalooshins—I mean, resolutions. Your pup probably has some similar plans for 2020. Come join our private Facebook group and tell us what your huge hound wants to accomplish in the coming year.
Expect big things!
